Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood reached the top of the charts with their hit single, "Remind Me." Now, someone is trying to remind them that it might not have been their song to record.
Dallas songwriter Amy Bowen, who once lived in Nashville, claims that Brad and Carrie stole their number one song from her and she is now suing them. The Nashville City Paper is saying that Bowen told them she wrote the song in 2007 and copyrighted it in 2008. She also claims that she played the song 19 times in public and that John Kelley Lovelace and Charles Christopher Dubois, co-writes along with Brand and Carrie, heard Bowen sing the song at a workshop.
Bowen is claiming that the songs are "substantially" similar and is looking to get $10 million in damages. She also wants to named the song's owner. It will now be up to courts to decide or the sides could work somthing out to avoid a trial. We will follow this story as it develops.
