The Boston bombings are on everyone's mind, but they hit close to home for Jo Dee Messina, who has roots in Watertown, Massachusetts – where authorities were focusing their search.
Jo Dee logged onto her Facebook page to tell fans, "Woke up to news of a manhunt in Watertown, Mass. That's where the Messinas live. I'm texting my cousin now, and she says they've been in lockdown since last night. Watertown is where we'd go visit my dad's side of the family when I was growing up. It's where the family still gets together every Christmas Eve. These are my people ... surrounded by chaos. A delayed return of a text makes me nervous."
Jo Dee also had family in Monday's race. "My cousin Jamie was on her way to the finish line, blocks away from explosion. She told me, 'That was the scariest day of my whole life. I can't sleep or do anything. I just feel fear.'"
